Level 1 Sea Kayak Skills
This comprehensive two day Paddle Canada Sea Kayak course goes beyond the basics in sea kayaking. You’ll learn everything you need to know to comfortably and confidently embark on day-long kayaking trips in relatively calm, sheltered waters.
Topics covered include:
WET EXITS - Perhaps the most important kayaking skill, you'll learn how to safely exit your kayak in the event of a capsize.
BASIC STROKES - Learn forward and reverse paddling & sweeps, pivoting, stopping, draw strokes, stern rudders and bracing.
SELF-RESCUE AND ASSISTED RESCUE - Learn how to rescue yourself and a friend; essential safety skills for solo and group paddles.
THEORY - We'll cover weather conditions, tides, an introduction to navigation, packing, gear and problem solving.
Pre-requisites: Paddle Canada Sea Kayak Basic Skills or equivalent.
